We have a unique and extremely rewarding opportunity for an Outdoor Education teacher to coordinate our program, one of the leading Outdoor Education programs in the State.

Outdoor Education uses physical and educational challenges in natural environments to aid each student’s growth. Emphasis is placed on developing students’ social skills and building their outdoor and environmental skills and knowledge.

The Coordinator of Outdoor Education is responsible for managing all aspects of the Outdoor Education Curriculum (P to 12) at the School with the program extending to include IB, VET, TCE and National Curriculum Learning Areas. Working closely with the Heads of School, Director of Teaching & Learning and the Outdoor Education team, this role ensures that the focus of the program is on the social, emotional, physical, mental and spiritual dimensions of human development.

The successful applicant will bring the following experience and attributes to the role:

  • Have extensive experience in outdoor education programs in a school environment preferably with broad experience from P-12, with expertise in a wide range of outdoor activities.
  • Have a Wilderness First Aid Certificate or equivalent, a bus licence or capacity to attain this, hold current qualifications in a variety of outdoor disciplines and be willing to participate in ongoing professional learning.
  • Have current leadership and management experience with proven ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently and strong planning skills.

We are seeking a dedicated teacher who is passionate about supporting and engaging students to achieve the best learning outcomes possible. This Access & Inclusion teaching role will collaboratively work with classroom teachers and learning assistants in the Middle School to support diverse learning needs through mentoring and coaching.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and caring Teacher of Japanese to join our Primary team from 2025.

This role implements the Primary Years Program of the IB, inclusive of the Australia Curriculum in teaching Japanese across the School from Kindergarten to Year 6.

The successful candidate will value diversity and equality and will want to actively participate in the full life of the School. Both early-career and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply and whilst knowledge or experience of inquiry pedagogy is desirable it is not essential. We are seeking to appoint a conscientious, hard working team player to join our Facilities & Maintenance team at The Friends’ School.

The team works across two campuses, supporting each other to run the day to day maintenance of the School. This is the ideal role for someone who is looking for variety in their job, enjoys mixing with people and has a strong focus on customer service. This is an extremely rewarding role in a team that is an integral part of the School.

The Bus Driver/Facilities Officer will bring the following experience and attributes to the role:

Tasmanian Light Rigid (LR) motor vehicle licence or greater. Current Public Passenger Vehicle licence (including Passenger Transport Ancillary Certificate). Extensive experience (ideally in excess of five years) driving buses in a passenger transport service.

Knowledge and experience in maintenance tasks, including ability to use basic hand tools, preferably as a Facilities Officer.

Highly motivated, well-organised and flexible in approach to work, with good interpersonal communication skills.

Proven ability to schedule work and meet work requirements of facilities in a high-profile working environment.

  • Experience teaching pre-tertiary Chemistry is highly desirable.

Friends Health & Fitness

Friends Health & Fitness is a fully serviced fitness centre offering gym, pool, personal training and group fitness classes, as well as steam room and spa facilities.  The Centre is open seven days a week to the public as well as students, staff and families of The Friends’ School.

We are seeking to appoint caring and highly motivated people to work with our early learning children.

Our Centre provides early learning programs for children from 12 weeks through to a Kindergarten program for three-to-four-year-olds, as well as an Outside School Hours Care Program.

Staff Wellbeing

The Friends’ School is committed to the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of our staff.

We have developed a Staff Wellbeing Program which runs throughout the year. This program is designed to give all staff access to information and activities relating to their physical, mental, emotional and financial wellbeing. The program brings staff together from all over our school, fostering engagement in our community.

Eligible staff have the opportunity to access no-cost membership at Friends Health & Fitness, which provides access to the pool and gym facilities. A morning community Yoga class is also hosted once a week for staff and students.
