2020 Outstanding TCE Results
Posted on December 22, 2020
Congratulations to all our Year 11 & 12 students for their outstanding TCE results and their commitment to the School’s Purpose and Concerns, especially through such a challenging year. We are proud of all of our 2020 graduates, their remarkable results and all that they have achieved during their time with The Friends’ School. All of our students have displayed remarkable resilience throughout 2020, demonstrating commitment to their studies throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the accompanying challenges.
These results are a testament to the wonderful efforts of our students and to the dedication of their supportive school community. Even when health restrictions hampered normal activities, this year group participated in nearly all aspects of School life and represented the School’s values by supporting each other throughout this challenging year.
Principal Nelson File congratulates the Class of 2020, whilst also acknowledging that Friends’ students are more than their ATAR.
“Friends’ students are passionate young people who want to make a difference in the world. I know they will make an impact on those around them to help create a world that is sensitive to the needs of others and the environment, be strong in service and hold a global perspective.”
“These TCE students embody the school motto, ‘Nemo Sibi Nascitur – No One Is Born For Self Alone’. Our students maintained their focus, worked hard throughout the year and together, supported by their teachers and families, strove to do their best and achieve these excellent results.”
These results are the culmination of, in most cases, at least 14 years of education. Many of the Year 12 students’ results are among the highest scores in the state, while for others, their hard work has resulted in achievements that anyone would be proud of.
The Friends’ School also has a number of International Baccalaureate Diploma students who will receive their results in early January. The School looks forward to acknowledging their efforts in the coming weeks.
On behalf of the whole school community, congratulations to all our students on their hard work and excellent achievements. We hope that these young people go on to “let their lives speak”.
14.2% of our TCE students achieved an ATAR of 98.35+, placing them in the top 1% of students nationally and the top 100 for the state. Four students achieved a result of 99.5 or better. The median score of our ATAR results is 90.5.
Lilli Boucher, Julia Mountain, Maxwell Powell and Flynn Bradbury have been awarded an Office of Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for 2020.
The TASC Outstanding Academic Achievement Award recognises students who achieve an ATAR of 99.5 or above while completing their senior secondary studies. These students have attained the highest academic results in Tasmania in 2020.
Henry Rheinberger has been awarded an Office of Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) Outstanding Achievement in Vocational Education and Training (VET) Award for 2020. To successfully achieve a TASC Outstanding Achievement in VET Award, a nominee must meet the eligibility criteria for the award, including the attainment of the Tasmanian Certificate of Education in 2020. Nominees are also assessed and recommended by an expert judging panel for showing outstanding achievement in their VET course and meeting the award criteria, including demonstrating exceptional skill, ability and determination in their chosen industry area.
