Aladdin JR. Senior School Musical – Sell Out Success!

Posted on June 24, 2024

On Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 June, our Senior School students performed Disney’s Aladdin JR. to sold out audiences over five performances at The Playhouse Theatre.

Based on the iconic animated film and hit Broadway show, Disney’s Aladdin JR. is a family-friendly musical that tells the legendary tale of the loveable thief Aladdin as he tries to capture the heart of Jasmine with the help of the fast-talking, wise-cracking genie. Along their journey of mystical caves, magic carpet rides and evil sorcerers, we saw some terrific cameo performances from a whole host of other colourful characters with acting, singing and dancing to match.

“We are thrilled to bring this enchanting story to life,” said Allan Jeffrey, the Director of the production. “The students worked tirelessly to create a show that captures all the magic and wonder of the original story. This production is a testament to their dedication, talent, and teamwork.”

The Senior School cast featured a diverse group of students showcasing the School’s commitment to inclusive and collaborative arts education. The production team were also hard at work, designing vibrant costumes and sets that transported the audience to the bustling streets of Agrabah and the Cave of Wonders.

Friends’ School community members were astounded at the incredible performances of our students:

“Congratulations to the cast and crew for this excellent production. We were visiting from Adelaide (I am an old scholar) and loved seeing my old school put on such a great show.” – WD

“We went to last night’s performance and we were so impressed how professional the production was. Not to mention the incredible talent of the performers—particularly the genie, Aladdin, Jasmine, Jafar and Iago! Absolutely magic! Bravo!👏🏻 ” – MH

“Well done to everyone involved, such a wonderful show 👏👏 ” – AB

A production of this scale and standard is testament to many months of hard work from the entire cast and crew. So thank you to everyone involved both on stage and behind the scenes with production, staging, set construction and costume design for creating such a professional and enjoyable musical.
