2025 Head Student Announcement
Posted on September 4, 2024
We are excited to announce our new Head Students for 2025, Sam Castle and Juliet MacIntyre.
Sam Castle’s Head Student nomination mentioned that his goal for 2025 would be to embody the values of the School and ensure that every student enjoys the same positive and enriching experience that he has enjoyed since starting at Friends’ in Kindergarten. During his year as Head Student, Sam is hoping to encourage other students to be an active participant, embrace new challenges and grow as a community.
During his speech Sam said:
“We always tend to look down on our failures, but looking back, all the best things in my life have come, originally, from failures; my first speech, my first interschool, my first year of High School, my first time being a leader, even my first driving test, all fails. But the thing that I’ve found magical about Friends’ is that you don’t see those things – no one does. As Sam Norton tells me whenever I do lose, “No one remembers those times, they remember the times you succeed.” To me, this characterises Friends’. That is what I want to make this school – a place where we’re not afraid of our mistakes, because we all make them, but a place we take risks, because we feel comfortable to take that risk, and maybe – just maybe – do something amazing!”
Within her Head Student nomination, Juliet MacIntyre, mentioned her commitment to perpetuating the core principles of The Friends’ School Quaker ethos. She wants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students across all years and would like to draw upon her previous leadership roles to create more student-led initiatives.
During her speech Juliet discussed what she is looking forward to next year:
“I’m an all-rounder, I love music, drama, art, sport, gained some top-tier, self-defence skills against my four brothers, and I’m a pro at Dress to Impress. Friends’ already has an incredible expanse of opportunities but I know that everyone doesn’t always feel a part of this. In fact, I know what that’s like. So my main objective is to ensure that more of you feel a part of our community. And to model to all of you the importance of facing the things that you’re afraid of.”
We look forward to seeing these two students work together to bring their visions to reality in 2025.
