In 2014, Noah Sutton (Class of 2010) took a casual holiday job at a Melbourne Aesop store and never returned to his double degree in arts and economics at UTAS. It was a time of explosive growth for the skincare brand; over the next eight years, Noah would learn so much in marketing, operations, commercial strategy, and later as part of Aesop’s philanthropic foundation, delivering a multi-million-dollar grant program supporting literacy development and amplifying voices in marginalised communities. “The message that stuck with me from Friends’ is that learning can take place anywhere, not just in the classroom,” he says.

Noah’s work with Aesop prompted Collingwood Yards to recruit him in 2022 to drive the contemporary art precinct’s post-COVID transformation and develop its commercialisation and operations strategy. In 2024, he joined the corporate partnerships team at the National Gallery of Victoria, managing relationships with organisations to bring in revenue that supports the institution’s exhibitions and programs. “Every day I learn something new,” says Carlton-based Noah, who’s always been drawn to the visual arts. “The teachers at Friends’ were incredibly impactful and transformative for me. The way they brought a wealth of life experience into the classroom was such a motivator to explore the world and understand it better.”
