Boarding | Walker House
The Friends’ School offers accommodation for students at our on-campus residence, Walker House, for local and international students from Years 7 to 12. We offer five-day and seven-day boarding.
We have separate boys and girls areas, with communal areas for meals and study. Students (aged 16 years and over) also have access to the School’s recreational facilities such as Friends Health & Fitness, which includes a heated swimming pool and fully equipped gymnasium.
At Walker House, our focus is on promoting a strong academic culture, celebrating difference and providing consistent pastoral care and structure via daily routines. We seek to provide a caring ‘home away from home’ with the feel of a large family. We strive for our students to learn how to live, work and play together, sharing experiences with people from many different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Please read through our Walker House Handbook for comprehensive information about our Boarding facility.

"I loved life in the school and boarding house, we were like a family. Holiday trips, huge fridge with lots of food, all kinds of events, soccer after school to name a few things. Nearly 20 years have passed and it still feels like yesterday."
"Friends' gave me the supportive, open environment that I needed to pursue my passions"
"Studying abroad in Tasmania is a fascinating experience for me. I love the peaceful scenery and the fresh air it brings to me. As a part of Clemes at Friends, I enjoyed everything from the Quaker practice, the study environment, the community service and even the house I am in (Ransome); I am never tired of making new friends from Kindergarten to Year 12 Clemes. If saying Clemes is my second house, the boarding house would be my third. I am never feel stressed when I’m back home as there are people to share my feelings with or someone to do homework together; the boarding house even has tutors to help us with our assessment (I am grateful for all the staff’s work)."
