Joe Mounsey’s Parting Gift
Some wonderful (and very large) artwork was installed at our Clemes Campus in 2017. This beautiful piece, depicting the waratah from our School crest, was produced and donated to the School by Old Scholar, Joe Mounsey (2017).
Joe discussed the idea with the School as his way of leaving his mark and saying ‘thank you’ for his time at The Friends’ School. The artwork is made from Core 10 Steel and is chemically treated to accelerate the rusting process, which produces the stunning raw and rusted steel colours. Joe’s father, Brett, has helped him over the years working with steel and this particular piece was made with two large sheets of steel on a CNC Plasma table. Joe now sells his steel creations at Salamanca Market.
Thank you to Joe for his thoughtful contribution and donation to our School.
